Staying Warm by Shannon Castor

Staying Warm by Shannon Castor

Staying Warm

The plastic bubble bag
that shipped vitamins
four weeks after purchase
did not keep the rain
off my back

I sit in class with wet socks
and one quarter of my shirt dry

I hold a thermos of tea
To my belly
Not for the enjoyment of tea

But to stay warm
in an unending battle

To stay warm
